Corrosion Protection of Underground Pipelines
Protecting pipelines from corrosion is one of the most important requirements to maintain the integrity of underground pipelines system. As these pipelines are subject to corrosive attack if it is in direct contact with a wet environment and salts from soil, proper protection system will help to isolate it from this environment is an obvious approach to corrosion control. One of the most effective protective systems for underground pipelines is non-metallic cladding, a jacketing system manufactured from GRP (glass reinforced plastic).
GRP lamination is recommended in order to provide superior protection. SolarTech material is:
- Electrically isolates the external surfaces of the pipeline from its environment. SolarTech UV cured GRP is non-conductive material.
- Adequately ductile to resist cracking.
- Resist damage due to soil stress and normal handling.
- Compatible with cathodic protection.
- Resists deterioration caused by the chemicals present in the environment and service temperature.
